Vocal Cord Papillomas (a.k.a Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis-RRP), these are most non-cancerous growths on the vocal folds that are cause by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Although there are over 100 classification types of this virus, HPV 6, 11, 16, and 18 are the types most frequent involved with the vocal folds. As the name implies, these growths tend to come back over time.
